THE GLASNOST VISION :
Wear your freedom on your sleeve.
ABOUT THE DESIGNER :
Ever since her line Glasnost’s inception, Stacy has been encouraging her clients to dress in accordance to who they are; creating versatile pieces that can be worn in more ways than one. Her clothes allow the wearer to create and experiment with her pieces, giving them the freedom to express who they are. “Fashion is not about what you wear, it’s about who you are,” she says.
The tagline of her brand “Wear Your Freedom On Your Sleeve” is inspired from the name of her brand, which stems from the 1985 Glasnost policies in Russia led by Mikhail Gorbachev, which imposed the openness, transparency and encourages freedom of expression.
Glasnost’s style is a mix of contrasting sensibilities - street and runway. Taking from the root of the brand name and our pieces, Preview described Glasnost by having “openness, freedom, and candor in sartorial self-expression,” Stacy’s designs can not only be twisted and turned into something else, but her choice of fabrics and dyeing techniques are something that caught the media's eye. In fact, the acid washed black fabric has become a sort of staple for Glasnost.
Stacy's inspiration comes a lot from travel also. For example, with her previous collection “Sirens and Trains” carrying influences from her trip to India and the "Greco" collection being inspired by the El Greco paintings she loved from her trip to Spain.
Stacy and her creations have been featured in notable publications in the Philippines, with a number of features in Glossies like Preview Magazine, Chalk Magazine, Metro Society, and broadsheets like The Philippine Star, The Philippine Daily Inquirer, The Manila Bulletin, & The Manila Standard.
